An analysis of the 6,897 incidents occurring in CY 2023 disclosed:

 

• Pharmaceuticals in every therapeutic category were targeted by criminals

 

• 2,440 different medicines were involved in these incidents

 

• This represented a three percent increase (+3%) from CY 2022

 

• As many as 120 different medicines were discovered in a single incident

 

The categories most frequently targeted by individuals engaged in pharmaceutical counterfeiting were genito-urinary, central nervous system (CNS), and metabolism.
